Make your Diwali more exciting and Safer by shopping at Online Mela


This Diwali the Government of Uttar Pradesh has organized an Online Mela from 19-25 October 2020 along with FICCI and EHCP. This Online fair gives the buyers an opportunity to buy traditional and exclusive ODOP products at affordable prices directly from the Artisan or manufacturer. The exhibition has items of home decor such as beautiful candelas, bouquets, crockery, curtains, and wind chimes at very reasonable prices. The exhibition began on the 19th of October 2020, housing informational webinars each day for Artisans and visitors. Today’s topic for the webinar was “Empowering artisans and enhancing ODOP products brand value.”

Welcoming the speakers, Ms. Diksha Singh, Assistant Commissioner Industries Government of Uttar Pradesh said, “It was realized that it is need of the hour to take orders the products on e-commerce platforms. Therefore the government of Uttar Pradesh has tied up with e-commerce platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, and eBay. Ecommerce is an ideal way to make the products from local to Global and the online presence of your business can be really cost-effective allowing you to fully expand the product ranges without having to worry.”

Highlighting the need for Enhancing value through Packaging of Handicraft and Textile, Dr. Tanveer Alam, Director, Institute of Packaging (IIP) said, “Packaging is the tool of sales and marketing. It is the science, art, and technology of enclosing or protecting products for distribution, storage, sale, and use. Packaging functions range from technical ones to marketing oriented ones.

Packaging can be described as a coordinated system of preparing goods for transport, warehousing, logistics, sale, and end-use. Technical packaging professionals need science and engineering skills, while marketing professionals need artistic and motivational understanding.

“With steady growth over the past years, even after the COVID-19 challenge, the packaging industry is showing firm potential for expansion, including in the export markets. Therefore, we can say it is blessings in disguise.” Dr. Alam added.


Speaking on e-Marketing Strategies Mr. Anshul Sehgal, Associate Director, Seller Marketing, and Samarth Flipkart said, “‘Flipkart Samarth’ leverage expanding internet penetration in rural India to promote entrepreneurship. For Samarth, we have tied up with 10 government entities and the outlets are present in 23 states. In Uttar Pradesh, we have artisans trading home décor, ethnic wear, and natural beauty products.  We have tie-ups with organizations like Gangotri and UP Khadi and Village Industries Board.”
