Complicated surgery of a 6-year-old girl suffering from Hemangioma was successfully removed at Apollomedics Super Specialty Hospital.

The 6-year-old girl was deeply troubled by the bulging of the tongue for last two years. Before undergoing treatment at Apollomedics Super Specialty Hospital, her parents had visited several other hospitals including Delhi for her treatment, but they were not satisfied anywhere.

The credit for this successful surgery goes to Plastic, Cosmetic & Reconstructive Surgeon Dr. Nikhil Puri, and Surgical Oncologist Dr. Kamlesh Verma, who gave a new life to the girl after 14 hours of tireless Surgery.

Surgical Oncologist Dr. Kamlesh Verma told that the 6-year-old girl had symptoms of this complicated disease since childhood but the parents came to know about it when the child was 4 years old. For two years this girl had a bunch of blood veins in her tongue, which due to girl was neither eating food or nor speaking. A tumor called hemangioma had also developed in more than half of the tongue and the girl was also having trouble in breathing due to repeated bleeding. Because of the Tumor she was unable to eat food, the child became physically weak, and at the age of 6, her weight was only 13 kg.

Dr. Verma said that “due to the girl being very weak, it was very challenging to bring out the cancer completely and bring the girl back to normal.

After 14 hours of tireless efforts by Dr. Kamlesh Verma and staff, the cancer was completely removed by surgery, after which Dr. Nikhil Puri successfully reconstructed the tongue from the tissue removed by the girls’ left hand by micro vascular technology. After the operation, the girl was kept in the hospital for 14-days for health benefits and when the girl became healthy, she was discharged from the hospital.
